Site maintenance this weekend

September 29, 2010 in News

patching....

I’ll be doing some work on the website this weekend to update to the latest version of the software.  I’ll be doing a full site backup before I do anything so that if there is a problem I can always revert, but its a major revision to the site software, so I’m expecting problems to occur.  The plan is to only be offline for about 10 minutes if all goes well.  I’ll probably be doing this on Saturday night, but it may also be Sunday morning.

Small change to the activity stream

April 30, 2010 in Uncategorized

Small site change I just wanted to let people know about.

For blog posts and forum posts you have to reply in the blog on in the forum.  Previously you could reply on the activity stream on the “activity” page.  This breaks the flow of information and splinters conversation.  It looks like by turning it off a few posts have gone away, and I apologize for that, but I feel going forward it will lead to fewer splintered conversations.

Thanks

Welcome to the new Dragonfactory.org

March 28, 2010 in News

The new site has quite a few communication options.  There are status updates, groups, forums, and blogs.  Everyone can create groups (I think), so if you have some kind of click that you want to put together, go ahead and invite your peeps.  Each group has a forum, but also has status updates.  If you put a @username, such as @teq, it will show up in that persons @ mentions list.  My recommendation is to add everyone you can to your friends lists.  We’re all friends here.  If there was a way to have that happen automatically I would have done it.  In either case, don’t use the friend function to be a douche, just add anyone and everyone to your list.

Creating blogs is not turned on.  If you really want one just send me a message and we can set it up.
All in all I’ve gotten positive feedback about the new site software so far, please feel free to send more feedback my way and I’ll see what I can do to fix any problems you might find.

Thanks guys!
